The New Look Nats
Yes, BallWonk and Ms. BW were there. No, they did not get autographs. But they did get photographs, and without further ado here are the highlights. (Click on the photos to enlarge them beyond all reason.)

Giullen the Barbarian and John Wilkes Majewski show off their shiny new uniforms.

A superhero pose worthy of Bendis.

It’s not that Ms. BallWonk has a Guillen fetish, it’s that ... oh, heck with it, it’s a Guillen fetish.

In person, BallWonk could not tell whether the new DC caps have the gold stitching. And since Guillen’s cap is, at this very moment, the only one that exists, it was hard to get a good look at it. (It went into production at New Era on Friday, BallWonk has learned.) But this frame seems to prove the presence of the gold stitching on the Barbarian’s cap.
Oh, and did anyone else notice that Lorelai Gilmore is now handling marketing and promotions for the Nationals? The resemblance was spooky.

I'm Jose's biggest fan, and I told him so at the July 4th game when I waved to him from behind the on deck circle. He gave me a huge grin. I was lucky enough to be there Saturday with my son (who is Jose's second biggest fan). I asked Jose if he remembered my July 4 comment, and he said he did (but my son said he was lying).
Any way, while waiting for the press conference to start, we DID get Screech's autograph (and Charlie's too - Charlie looks like the host of Fear Factor). And by the way Screech has SERIOUS b.o. - must be the dirty costume.
we were inside the fenceline, in the third row from the front on the right (facing the stage) side, just behind a blond, er, husky, young fellow in a Wilky Jersey autographed across the number on the back and all over. I was wearing a green sweater, my buddy is tall with dark hair and wearing, um, uh . . . well, I'm a guy, I spent six hours with the man and I have no clue what he was wearing. His blond 5 year old boy was in a red Nats windbreaker. My boy was in a reddish and white sweater, no branding.
I agree about the full name and wear do you live part of the questioning of the winning girl.
Thanks by the way for flagging this -- I wouldn't have known but for your site.
Sam,
Alas, BW did not hear you. He was standing on the right-hand side, with a leather jacket, a green plaid scarf, and a big silver camera. Might have a picture of the back of your head if you tell us where you were sitting (or a closeup of your son if he has Bluegrass' autograph on his shirt).
And yes, the girl was cute, but BW thought it just a little creepy that Charlie asked her for her full name and address.
Main disappointment: even more than a Majewski photo, Ms. BW wanted Screech's autograph but never got it.
BW
Alas, I guess I wasn't loud enough when, during one of the many long pauses in the windup to the fashion show, I said "Any Ballwonk here?"
Could that little girl who won the home plate seats have been any cuter?
My boy got a Guillen autograph, and like his father taught him, he said "I hope your shoulder feels better."
The Nationals' first game ever @ RFK Stadium on
April 14th of this year is now being played on
XM radio, channel 175 (mlb channel). It started at
midnight, so I don't know if anyone will get this
post in time. But, it's terrific to hear it.
Not to mention that the Modell's guy looked disturbingly like Joseph R. Gannascoli, who plays Vito Spatafore on The Sopranos.
